Plymouth delight and an amazing day at The Vic
A spirited comeback only yields one point, we gain a vital win away at Plymouth, Heidar makes a heroic return and plenty more positives to take from what has been a dramatic week at The Vic.
I am sure when the season began there were those who had their doubts, yes the squad is smaller than last season and yes our budget has been cut but for those who have seen the performances thus far, I am sure they will be as excited as we all are within the club.
The win away at Plymouth was a big night for us; we had a young team out and, granted, Scotty had to make several fantastic saves but we showed a certain grit and resilience that I’m sure every Hornet who made the long trip south-west would have been immensely proud of. It’s always a tough place to go and to come away with the three points made for a fun (although long) drive home.
We then had the visit of Leicester on Saturday and the script had already been written. 2-0 down and not really creating all that much in the first half despite good possession of the ball, so on comes Heidar to a hero’s welcome. Danny scores a brave goal before ‘H’ notches two and, but for a last-minute equaliser, the second one would’ve been the match-winner.
Unfortunately it looks like Heidar has picked up a knock but hopefully it won’t be too serious.
So a little status check; so far we have played eight League games and it was brought to my attention that we have been ahead in seven of those!
We have notched three very good wins but, with some small tweaking, I’m sure we’re not too far off being one of the top teams in this division. Our squad may be young but it is very talented and the brand of football we are playing is very attractive on the eye, something I know is appreciated.
No midweek games this week but we do have a reserve game Wednesday against Norwich that I hope to play in. I haven’t played since the Leeds game so it’ll be nice to play again.
So far so good, see you next week.
