A great end to the week as we get the better of Ipswich in a thrilling game at the vic. Although the winner came late on I don’t think there could be many watching the game who could argue that the win wasn’t deserved. On another day it could quite comfortably been 4 or 5 had Jobi’s chance gone in or the penalty appeal been awarded in the first half along with a few other chances that went begging.
It’s unusual for me to single out any players but I want to make a mention about John Jo. He has been on the periphery for most of the beginning of the campaign, he came on and in my opinion his impact was huge. It’s amazing the difference that can be made when someone plays with the confidence and intensity that John Jo showed. I’m singling him out because certain things he did changed the game. A good strike from outside the box, that not only won a corner but more importantly lifted the crowd and created a buzz. One instance when he tracked back and won a strong tackle sends a buzz throughout the team. There was a clear momentum shift with his introduction and he’s certainly staked his claim.
In the second half there was only going to be one winner and although it came late it was thoroughly deserved. Also wanted to give a quick mention to Liam Henderson who also made a big impression in his 10 minutes on the pitch, I’m sure the Watford fans will get to know him more in time to come but again his desire and courage is something that the Watford fans will take to instantly.
Anyway enough about the game, the week itself has been another good one. The training schedule was slightly altered due to Tuesday’s game, which again there were many positives to be seen from our younger pros. I was hoping to be in the squad for that game but managed to pick up a dead calf on Monday which meant little training for me this week. It’s settled down quite quickly though so I’m expecting to play in the reserves on Monday night.
International break is upon us which means no games for a couple of weeks but that doesn’t mean a let up in our training, if anything it gives an opportunity to up the intensity which is difficult to do when there are back to back games. I’ll be sure to keep you updated on any news.
